இவன் எனது அன்பான நண்பன் -- கொழுவுபட்டுள்ளோம் -- பல தடைவைகள் -- அடுத்த நிமிடம் சண்டையிட்ட சகோதரங்கள் போல ஓட்டிக் கொள்வோம்.

இவன் அரியாலை எழுத்தோவியர் சூடாமணியின் ''பேச்சு வார்த்தை'' இல்லாத ஓரே தம்பி.

அவனது செயல் திறன்களை கண்டனுபவித்தோரே நம்புவர்.

ஓர் நாள், ஓர் திமிர் பிடித்த Accountant,  தான் முன்னை நாள் கிளார்க் என்பதை மறந்தவர் --

என்னுடன் கதைத்து கொண்டிருந்த --

''  டேய் பரமசிவம், உங்கை என்ன சிரிப்பு, இங்கை வா -- இந்த மேசையை அந்த பக்கத்திலை அரக்கி வை '' 

''  பாருங்கோ சேர் விளையாட்டை'' என்று எனக்கு இரகசியமாக சொன்னவன் -- --

எக்கஔண்ரனை பார்த்து ''  அய்யா, நான் ஓரு சாதாரண ஓபிஸ் பியோன் -- என்ரை வேலை -- ஓரு மேசையில இருக்கிற பைலை மற்ற மேசையில வைக்குறது மட்டும் தான் -- உந்த மேசை கதிரை அரக்குற வேலைக்கெல்லாம் லேபறர் ஓண்டை தேடிப் பிடியும் ''

திகைத்து நின்றவரது முத்தில் அசடு வழிந்த மாதிரி --

விறு விறு என்று வரிந்து கட்டிக்கொண்டு
Office Assistant நிர்வாகியிடம் முறையிட்ட Accountant   --

அவர் திருகோணமலை என்றதும் நானும் பதிலுக்கு மலையகத்தில் பிறந்து ஆரம்ப கல்வியை St Don Bosco's  Hatton ல் தொடங்கினேள் என்றேன் ——  

ஆகா -- ஓர் ஓற்றுமை -- இன ஓற்றுமை எமக்குள் உருவாகியது ——   

சம்பாஷணை யாழ் பக்கம் திரும்பியது ——   

அக்காலத்தில் வழமையாக Train, Bus, Market, Liquor Bar என சந்திக்கும்
இடங்களில் யாழ் அல்லாத இருவர் சந்தித்தால் நிற்சயமாக யாழ் அகற்றும் காரணங்கள் அலசுவார்கள் ——   

இதன் காரணம் என்ன ?

அப்படி என்ன கொடூரத்தை எனது யாழ் இனம் எனது சகோதர இனங்களாகிய மன்னார், வன்னி, திருகோணமலை, மட்டக்களப்பு, மலையகம் மக்களுக்கு இளைத்து விட்டது என்பதை அறிய பல கால ஆசை ——   

நானும் கொஞ்சம் கூடுதலாகவே யாழ்
கல்வி திறன்,  நிர்வாக திமிர், நம்மட ஆள் கொள்கை எண்டு ஏகப்பட்ட விஷயங்களை அள்ளி அடுக்கினேன் ——   

கச்சேரியும் முடிந்தது ——    நானும் எனது ஸ்ரோர் அலுவலகம் திரும்பினேன் ——   

சொற்ப காலத்தில் பிள்ளையாண்டான் கொழும்புக்கு மாற்றலாகி ——    எனது மேசையில் இருந்த றெஐிஸ்ரறில் கையெழுத்திட்டதும்

''  ஆ,  அண்ணே நீங்களா -- நல்லதா போச்சி -- யாரோ யாழ் பய குந்திகிணுருப்பான்னு நினைச்சேன் '' 

''  உக்கும் -- விட்டுருவமா மச்சி ''  என உசார் படுத்தி அனுப்பினேன் ——   

சில நாட்களில் என்னுடன் நெருக்கமாக பழகும் சிங்கள ஸ்ரோகீப்பர் -- நமது பிள்ளையாண்டானது பொஸ் (Boss) என்னிடம் வந்தார் ——   

'' Benna, you bastard,  what the bloody hell did you do to that new chap man ? "

''Come on Hema,  I didn't do a damn -- in fact macho,  I haven't spoken to him or even seen the man ever since he came here ''  I replied.

'' I asked the chap many times to ''go to this office and do something'' -- the bugger totally refuses and he won't tell me the reason why --  I can't have him -- You get me another man as replacement ''

Goldman Sachs CEO Lloyd Blankfein  basically pleaded ignorance about  company’s scams.

He was paid $68 million in 2007, the highest in Wall Street history,

Why were so many senior executives of Goldman Sachs were around presidents Bill Clinton and George Bush?

Clinton knew his economic stuff to know the repercussions of what he was to sign in as Law.

Bush was a moron who always did as he was told.

It is sad indeed there seems to be a rift prevailing in our minds of the sufferings experienced by our people in the former war zone of Vavyniya  and those in other parts of Lanka.

To know the internal turmoil our Tamil people are suffering within Colombo,  mostly,  we had the oppurnity to explore two slum areas.

Wanathamulla,  where Saravanamuthu Cricket Stadium is established.

And Orugodawatte,  Welampitiya.

The people in these areas speak both languages --  Tamil at home and Sinhala in outter world --

They mingle freely and easily with Sinhala and Muslim communities --

And they emphatically state Tamil has no commercial value --

And school students say they speak Tamil to communicate with parents and elderly at home --  Even though parents and elderly could speak Sinhala very fluently.

The Tamil language bond is maintained at home.

People in Negombo and Chilaw too use Tamil at home and Sinhala out of home.

We identified two families --

Rajani Kanth -- A driver of 3 Wheeler who took us around and guided our explorative passage in those areas --

Father of two boys of 6 and 4 years.

They do not cook their own food at home as ingradients are too costly  --  and the family is immersed in re-payment of Housing Loan --

They pay an enormous interest at Rs 300/= per day --  Each each and every day !

Selvi,  Kalai Selvi,  a nurse at a private clinic and ''Elderly Day Care Centre'' --

                                             

In-mates of her bright home among 1000s of tin roofed hovels are --

Father - retired Petroleum Coporation employe, turned Auto-Rickshaw ( 3 Wheeler) who sold his auto vehicle to pay a month's
interest --
Mother a stomach cancer patient attending Maharagama Cancer Institute --
Brother - separated from his young family who contributes a small sum towards ''interest payment'' --
A ten year old son --

Selvi pays,  now close your eyes,  Rs 20,000/= a month as interest alone.

Am I helping the poor ?

Or am I biting more than I can chew ?

But my heart goes out to them too !

 The Building of Tonsberg Children's Home in Vavuniya funded from Norway by a son of a friend of ours  --  Tonsberg Children's Home is a separate entity,  by itself,  managed by a Committee of senior officers of the Department of Education of Vavuniya,  Sri Lanka.

This post is to illustrate the needs in dire want by the poorest of the poor. 


Some kids that need immediate help -- They are dressed up for the photograph shoot  -- Borrowed bloom !

Notice the withered look of mother who sacrificed much for motherless grandson.
